A Remnant

I pass this way every day.
And yet, I've never really noticed it before.
I'm always trying to get somewhere, having to hand someone a snack, trying to make all of the appropriate animal sounds while listening to "Old McDonald".
But that day, I turned my head to the left and saw it.
A Remnant...the last bit of Autumn color.

The grapes are long gone.

And soon the leaves that are still clinging to the vines, will join the rest of their friends on the lush green carpet.

But on this day, I got to see it in all of it's glory.

And, all of this time, it was there.
I'm so glad I turned my head to the left before I missed it!

"Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No one branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from m you can do nothing."
John 15:4-5

Blessings to you this Wednesday from
A Southern Girl at Heart,
Vanessa

Beautiful pictures Vanessa and a beautiful verse! Don't you wonder what it is that makes us turn our heads or go down that road? It is like He is trying to tell us something in our busy lives. I am so glad that you listened and looked and reminded us all to do the same! Hugs to you my friend!

What a beautiful post today. I needed that! I wish I would take more time to enjoy all the beauty around me.

Because of your thoughtfulness I took my puppies for an extra long walk today to enjoy the last of the beautiful color before it's gone. Thank you.

As I drove to work this morning I noticed the last of the leaves. The wind was blowing and they were swirling. I almost wanted to turn around and drive past the fields again. I love your pictures today and also your Thanksgiving table scape - Beautiful!

Vanessa, What a great post. Isn't life just like that though? You get so busy with this and that and if you don't turn your head you miss it and never see it again. I think that is why I enjoy my grandkids so much...they are only passing through here once and the stages and ages they move through happen so quickly. Just like your leaves-I want to enjoy their childhood moments. Hugs-Diana

This is beautiful. I love it when you discover a treasure that was there all along but you have been passing by. Those are my favorites, I think.

I felt that way when I discoverd the blue hour.

I think you should share this with Simple Pleasures on A Collection of This and That, too. It was truly a simple pleasure!

Hi Vanessa! Oh, what a lovely spot! Just gorgeous pictures.
To answer your question - I found the little Rooster lamp at Hobby Lobby and just hot glued the trim on it myself.
Be a sweetie and I hope you can find your own little Rooster lamp.

wow - that's some great scenery. I'm really jealous. Those colors are just gorgeous. I haven't checked in with you in a few days - and i have to say - the pilgrims in the post below crack me up. I love them! (But she does look like she's getting ready to do a magic trick - very astute observation)

So happy you saw the last of fall. I love the smell of dying, wet leaves in November. I'm very grateful to God for the sense of smell.

Hi Vanessa,

I love it when I see cathc a moment like this. It's as though time stands still for a moment for me. But it's also mixed with a kind of sadness that time marches on and on.

I like your verse at the end.

It's so wonderful to know that some things are utterly unchanging....standing on solid rock.
