Thankful and Please Pray!

"Blizzard Hits the Northwest"
Have you read the headlines today?
While we got this lovely dusting of snow overnight...

...which is a fairly rare occurrence in our parts this early in the season...

My parents left their home in Utah, hoping they were going to beat the blizzard and make it to our house tonight.
Instead they encountered something like this...
(from Comcast)

I woke up this morning and felt compelled to pray for them. I had not seen any news yet, but the burden on my heart caused me to pray continually all morning, especially when I finally turned on my computer and saw that image.
I heard from my mom a few hours later and breathed a sigh of relief! They have lived in states where it snows for most of their married life, and she said that was the worst storm they had ever been in. They are pretty sure they were at the epicenter of it and there was so much ice that it actually broke one of the windshield wipers right off!
As I type this my eyes are welling with tears just thinking about how very grateful I am that the Lord answered my prayers and covered them with protection.
They still have a long way to go today and the storm is still raging on. They will probably end up spending the night in Northeast Oregon before making the rest of their way here in the morning.
Please pray for them if you think of it!

We want Nonna and Poppa here safe and sound so they can join us in this kind of fun!

Praying you have a very safe and very blessed Thanksgiving!

From this Southern Girl at Heart,
Vanessa

Saying a prayer for your parents, Vanessa. I always pray for guardian angels to surround people's cars and for them to be sheltered by their wings. Let us know they got through all right! Hugs-Diana

Send some of that snow to me! I will take it. I am still running around in capris and flip flops. It is hard to get into the holiday spirit when you go outside and it feels like summer. I do hope your parents have a safe trip.

The snow is beautiful, but not to travel in. Of course we will pray for them and everyone that is traveling this holiday week end.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I will for sure remember your family's safe arrival in my prayers and will also pray for comfort for you as well. On a brighter note, the snow is beautiful at your place....unlike here where it's like 73 today! The weather is always outta wack over the holidays down here. Happy holidays to you and yours.

Having been in a similar situation a number of years ago, I KNOW what it is like to be on the road with solid ice and cars going out of control all around you. There were no cell phones at that time, so I'm thankful your Mom was able to get in touch with you. I will be praying for God's hand of protection as your parents complete their journey to your home. It will truly be a time of rejoicing and thankfulness once they arrive safe and sound!!! Have a blessed holiday together. Hugs to you all!!!!

Oh Vanessa, I can imagine the tension they both have while trying to drive through that all day. Thank goodness they are experienced and I did pray this morning when I read this post. Thank goodness they are retired now and can stay to rest as long as they need to stay!

Vanessa,
Just read this. Hope your parents arrive safe and sound. While watching the weather this morning, I see many areas that look yucky for traveling. I will be saying a prayer for your parents and all of the other travelers as they make their way to their destinations.
Happy Thanksgiving!

So glad that your parents made it in safe and sound Vanessa! I do have to admit I am a tad jealous of your wonderful holiday weather! We have been spoiled the past three to four years and have had chilly temps this time of year. Not so this year! It was 80 the other day!!:( Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
