First things first...you know how when you haven't been sleeping well and you are waiting for the caffeine to begin coarsing its way through your veins and it is very early in the morning when you are typing up a new blog post and you refer to a "Violet" as a "Pansy"? You don't? Well then, never mind!
For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, I am going to let you live in blissful ignorance of my mistake and for those of you who do know, please don't hold it against me. I really do know the difference between those two plants.
We all have our moments!
Now, as I mentioned in my last post, I am easing into the New Year with some smaller projects, the first of which is giving some love to a little lamp in my daughter's room.
Purchased at Wal-Mart for $10 it was just the right size but I thought it needed to just a bit sweeter for my sweet little girl.
I think having the shade hanging crookedly helps with the
"Before-ness" of this picture don't you?
I didn't have any specific plan for the shade other than that I wanted to add some color to it. I found these darling little yellow rosebuds at the craft store.
(Yes! I went into the Craft Store to buy something Crafty. It's a New Year's miracle!)
I decided to just hot glue them around the top and the bottom of the shade to sweeten it up.
Then, with the thrilling sensation of having the hot glue gun in my hand giving me some extra courage I did something I have NEVER done before...
I STENCILED SOMETHING!
Granted, just one little something, but still...
Aren't you proud of me?
One little 'L' for one little Miss Lauren.
I'm kind of liking how it looks at night with the 'L' having a subtle glow.
So, if you really think about it, this was actually a fairly Big project for me.
Hot Glue Gun and Stenciling all at the same time?
History in the Making here folks!
Oh, and just so you know, this post is #99 for me.
That means the big #100 is up next!
Stay tuned...

Vanessa

Vanessa oh yes I have had those fun blah moments before my coffee kicks in. Lol!
The lamp is adorable. The initial is the perfect sweet touch. Love the rosebuds too.
Have a wonderful day!
~Melissa :)
My moments are not just early in the morning, sometime they hit all throughout the day. lol Love the lamp, it is so cute and the yellow roses and the stenciled L are just the perfect touch. I'd say you did good. Hugs, Marty
Very sweet and I'll bet Lauren was excited about it!
I always need the caffine, usually 2 cups, before my brain wakes up. The trouble is sometimes I leave blog comments while the coffee is brewing. Uh-O
Hi Vanessa, Well don with the lamp ,I know what you mean ,I cannot start the day either without my coffee and usually a bananna (need the sugar).
~Sharon~
Haha! I noticed that but I wasn't going to call you on it! Oh, I have certainly been there myself too. Your daughters lamp is adorable! You did good!
what a cute little lamp! I am a lamp girl - if I can find a place for another one I will. I have almost done a post about all the lamps in my house. Hope all is well at your house.
Marty is funny!
The lamp is adorable!
I am proud of your skilled use of the HGG!

YOU GO GIRL!
I remember when I started my blog and I thought I would eventually run out of things to blog about.
Nope.
I enjoy your posts!

Sweet little lamp...what a creative, yet simple idea, completely different look than what you started with...love it!!!
xoxo
Your lamp is adorable. Perfect for a little girl's room! I am stenciling a wall border in my bedroom, and it is taking forever! I'm hoping to post about it soon, but at the rate I'm going it's going to be awhile! :)
What a sweet little lamp! I love the flowers and the "L" is perfect!!
About the flowers, if you tell me it is a pansy I will believe you, if you tell me it is a violet, I will believe you. I just refer to flowers as the little purple one or the big red one with long stems :) They are all pretty!! You are doing fine my dear!! :)
Love the lamp and the roses are such a sweet idea. I may have to copy this for my Granddaughter's room!! I just loved that either the violet or pansy was in such a cute little dish!
You are to funny and to cute! I like the lamp and I like the way you sweetened it up:)
You did good, Kiddo! Who said you couldn't walk and chew gum...er...glue and stencil at the same time? Tweren't me!
That is really a dear little lamp for your little Lauren. Nice job! Hugs-Diana
Hey gorgeous,
I turn into a dangerous lady with a glue-gun in my hand!! The power of the glue gun to give me craft-confidence that shouldn't, by rights, be mine, is enormous and not a little scary!!
Your lamp is LOVELY! I hope your little girl appreciates what a great mummy she has.

I love lamp embellishing...really cute Vanessa.
Too cute Vanessa!
hey, i don't know a violet from a pansy most days - LOL :) Well i know a pansy and violet, but beyond that I am not much help. Did you watch the game last night? Crazy! - very cute lamp redo :)
Adorable! It gives it just what it needs for that little extra. Love it!!
What are violets and pansies? Are they flowers? Kidding. ;) We've ALL had those moments! Baby girl's new "Vanessa-fied" lamp is precious! I love the flowers that you added, as well as that cute litle stenciled initial! I know it looks perfect in her room.
Congratulations on your adorable lamp shade! It turned out beautifully ... you did a great job! Now armed with glue gun in hand you can move ahead to bigger & better projects!
The lamp looks adorable! I just love how the little things can really jazz up something!
The lamp shade came out adorable. I love a hot glue gun. The stencil came out cute as well. Funny story about the plant...I don't actually know the difference so you could have called it anything. I can't wait to see what post #100 is all about.
The lamp shade is adorable and I love the stenciled L.
Your lamp looks a whole lot better and now it's personalized for Lauren. Great job.
Love the lamp and how you embellished the shade, Vanessa.
Vanessa, that little lamp and shade are adorable. Love the yellow flowers you added. So sweet. Thank you for joining the party.
You did good on the lamp! My problem is not knowing when to stop adding stuff but yours is perfect...really sweet.
Congrats on your 100 coming!
So very sweet. Your first stenciling job is a big hit. Did you paint/distress the lamp base? It almost looks in one picture like you did. Thanks for sharing.
Your lamp is very sweet. I especially like the monogram, the perfect touch.
Congratulations on your upcoming 100th post.
Have a great day and enjoy your coffee!
Sue

The lamp turned out perfect for her! Hope you are doing well! I have been MIA for awhile and trying to get back into a routine!
Cute little lamp. Proud of you for getting dangerous with the HGG. Next you'll be foraging in the garage for the pneumatic stapler. Oh, wait, that was me!
