Versatile Blogger?

I know that there are a lot of these awards floating around here in Blogland. And when I received the same one twice in one week it was an honor to have it passed my way. But what I REALLY thought about it was this...

Versatile??? Me???
I am probably one of the least versatile person I can think of!
Now, if there was say a...

STUCK IN A RUT AWARD
or a
PLAYED IT SAFE AWARD
or, dare I say it...
UN-CRAFTIEST PERSON AWARD

Now those would seem more like it!

Nonetheless, it is a fun idea and I guess I will just have to embrace the term "Versatile" and hope that it has more to do with the fact that I can go from playing Lego Star Wars to having a Tea Party all within a matter of minutes! Now, THAT'S being Versatile!
These are the lovely ladies who passed this honor along to me...
Jennifer at Southern Inspirations
and
Michelle at Emerald Cove
(sorry this is so late girls!)

Now, apparently I am supposed to share a few things about myself. Thank goodness it is only 7 because I want you to still all like me and if I go on and on with little tid-bits about myself you may just run away screaming! Plus, they could get weirder and weirder so keeping it to a minimum is a good idea.
I'm thinking about just doing this the one time so you won't have to suffer through this anymore! I don't want to be the one to "Break" the chain but I am finding myself hard-pressed these days to even get posts up let alone figure out how to narrow down the Blogs I would want to pass the award on to and then email all of them. So, if some unfortunate accident happens as a result of my "Chain-Breaking", well, I am deeply sorry!

Here we go...

 1. I am slightly schizo when it comes to my musical tastes. When I am in the car with my kids we listen to everything from Bullfrogs and Butterflies and Music Machine (Can I get an Amen? Does anyone remember else remember those?) to Cinderella and Old McDonald. When I am out and about for some Mommy time I have been known to rock the AC/DC, Led Zepplin and even a little Guns-n-Roses with some 80's hits thrown in for good measure! I can almost pretend that I'm not driving a Volvo station wagon! Am I losing you yet??? But my heart also rejoices to the sounds of Classical Music particularly the classical guitar (Andre Segovia is my favorite!) and I love Standards and Jazz (gotta have me some Frank and Diana Krall!). I also know all of Norah Jones' albums backwards and forwards. And, don't even get me started about Christmas music...it comes out shamefully early in this house! I really sound like I have multiple personalities, don't I? Now I am even scaring myself a little...

2. I LOVE WORDS! I know...I know...it seems hard to believe. But, one of my favorite parts about this whole Blogging thing has been the writing side of it. I forgot how much I enjoyed it and truly feel like it has awakened something in me that has been lying dormant for quite awhile! This correlates with loving to read, of course, and there is nothing better to me than having time to sit and get lost in a book. It doesn't happen often these days folks! I'm a Bronte and Austen kind of girl with a little bit of mystery thrown in for good measure. I'm also currently reading the latest edition of the My Little Pony early reader series and the Boxcar Children: Mystery at the Ballpark!  I'll let you know when we find out who stole the Baseball Bat!

3. I am a former Pastor's Kid who managed to survive stuffing church bulletins on Saturday nights and being only one of 2 kids in the youth group for long stretches of time. The other kid in the youth group was my sister. But I made it out relatively unscathed and I love the Lord with all my heart and long to serve Him and His people in whatever way He would have me do it!

4. Being a Mommy was something that I often thought I would never have the privelege of. My children may not be flesh of my flesh but they are Heart of my Heart and I could not have dreamed up two more perfect kiddos for our family!

When God sent them to us He blew any expectations I had out of the water and every day I get to see and hear evidence of His Grace, His Sovereignty, and His fulfilled promises when I am with my 2 Blessings!
He wanted me to trust Him...and I did...
and I got the greatest Rewards ever!

5. I am a fairly neat and tidy person but, I have been known to clean my baseboards and mop up milk off of the floor with my socks!

Who knew they could be so multi-functional?

6.  I am more deeply in love with my husband today than I was the day I said "I Do!!" He is my best friend, my confidant, my partner in parenting and in life. He makes me laugh until my sides hurt and he made me realize that I had a sense of humor too. Albeit a somewhat twisted one! When I made that choice almost 12 years ago I thought I "Knew" and yet when life throws you things that are beyond your control and you are held in this person's arms in the middle of the night while you sob from your heart-ache...that is when you really "Know!" That is when you realize just how important that choice was and how very grateful you are that God brought you to each other and how you will survive ANYTHING because you have made it through the tough stuff and love each other even more!

7. I know EVERYTHING there is to know about the "Little House on the Prairie" series! I wish there was a game show about it because I would be the Champion! Go ahead...ask me anything...I dare you! I even ran into the actress who played Miss Beadle once at the mall. It would have been thrilling except that it was in Victoria's Secret which just made it fairly traumatizing...

Let's just say she wasn't buying a new petticoat!

So, there you have it. Do you still like me?

Hope so!
From this Southern Girl at Heart,
Vanessa

What a great post! Your words do seem to come easily and sometimes, okay, most of the time, my words don't. You can tell by your writing that you are a warm and lovely person.

Of course we still like you, what's not to love here? The sock deal is too funny! I'll have to try that one. I also enjoyed hearing your love for Little House on the Prarie. Just how did Mary loose her sight again, and did she ever get it back? So funny to hear about you seeing Ms.Beatle in Victorias Secret. You poor thing!

Um, I might have to challenge you to a Little House on the Prairie "show-down" I mean really "Mary" should know slightly more than "Laura" about Little House on the Prairie, because she is the oldest you know...;o)

I will still never get over you seeing Miss Beadle in Vic. Secrets. Do you remember that Michelle went to school with the twins that played Carrie? I thought that was the coolest thing EVER back then...oh the things that impress us when we are young.

Love you.

I'm with you on the 80's rock music!! I can almost pretend I am driving a Trans-Am sports car instead of a Toyota minivan!!

How funny about Miss Beadle!!!

I just loved getting to know you better. You sound very versatile to me!

OK...liked you a lot before. LOVE you now! These are so great, and I relate to most of them. (Can't say that I have ever mopped the baseboard with my socks, but now...I'll probably give it a try.)

I laughed OUT LOUD literally at most of these. One of two in the youth group... Miss Beadle at Victoria's Secret...too funny.

Yep. You're versatile. What's more, you're the REAL thing. You have to love that in a person.

Great post!

Like you even more now, Vanessa! You are a lovely lady and I feel privileged to be a part of your world even in this small way!
I love words too - I published several inspirational romance novels before turning to early Christian history and more specifically St. Nicholas time period(hence the blog!). Words are magical - well, not surprising considering Who The Word is!
Blessings!

Well, I am so glad that you uncovered this gift of writing, because you certainly have it! This is so funny...laughter is good for the soul and I just crack up with the things you say! I can tell your heart is so sweet and I am so glad that in God's loving grace, he has provided such a wonderful family for you! Love your choices in music, too! We got to see Norah and Micheal Buble in concert this year and loved them! Buble gives one spectacular show, if you haven't seen! He really gets in to the crowd and is really grateful! LOVE LHOTP and your stories that go along with them! My middle sister hated being 'half-pint!' Oh, the simpler way of life, I crave...love, love the show today for my kids because it is clean!!! You can order the series, if you don't already have it!! I could go on and on! Anyway, congratulations on your much deserved versatile award!!! Christie
