I'm republishing this post so I can participate in the Sunday Favorites party at Happy to Design!
It was one of those moments when time stood still. Our realtor lead us through the entry and on towards the family room when I stopped dead in my tracks at the sight of this...
A Built-in Cabinet! And, not only did it have the perfect storage for Stemware and platters and such, but, dare I hope? No, it would be too good to be true if it had a....oh my! It did, it had a light switch built in to illuminate all of that pretty glass!
Be still my heart!
Be still my heart!
When we moved in, though, I carefully placed all of my crystal glasses and goblets and filled that bottom cabinet to the brim. But for some reason, don't ask me how it happened, I ended up just plunking this Silver Tea Service down in the space in between and calling it a day! There is sat looking like this...
Excuse me while I yawn!
I think you will agree that while this isn't horrible its just a bit blah! Not the tea service mind you ( I love Silver sets like this) but it just didn't do this little space any justice.
So I set about sprucing it up a bit!
Here is where we started...
I know, I know! I'm putting you to sleep.
I actually love the tray so I thought I would leave it there and just do some minor tweaking...first I brought this lamp over from another spot in the house.
How could I have ignored that light socket all that time? Shameful!
Then I added a silk orchid and broke up the tea set by adding a crystal jar.
Now we are getting somewhere! I decided I wasn't crazy about the orchid so I switched it out for this and added my first ever little Cloche! Only $5 folks!
But still, I felt haunted by the reality that something was missing. You know that feeling?
And then, it came to me in one of those Decorating "Ah-Ha" moments! It needed a...wait for it...
MIRROR!
Ahhh...just right!
Here is the full view
I only spent $30 total to make this space over! That includes the Mirror ($10), Cloche ($5), and Ball Topiary with Pot ($15)!
Here is a glimpse at the wonderful storage
And here is the view at night
Hope you enjoyed another little peek into my home!

First, I love the corner cabinet and would be exactly like you upon finding one on a home buying tour.
But second, I love what you did around the tea tray! It's perfect, and it makes me want to remake some of my own spaces too.
You know it's good when it inspires others!

It's very lovely in its final condition, but being rather simplistic, I LOVED it just plain too!
Oh, I'm talking about the shelf with the silver tea service, btw.
Did you even look at the rest of the house after seeing that?
I probably wouldn't need to. You really have a good eye. It just got better and better in each picture.
